SUNO FAIZ

Context: Through this poem the author poses question and his frustration in front of Faiz, that after walking on the path which Faiz had shown in his poem “Bol ki lab azaad hain tere”, the author does not get the desired result which Faiz had promised in his poem.

Translation:
Who said that my will is free,
These words are also not mine…
Yes, indeed I have a body
And a pure soul…
They kept targeting my body
I kept shielding my soul.
And beside this chaotic conflicts
I saw the shop of sword maker
Which you had shown me once…
I saw fire in the furnace and the melting iron…
And trust me Faiz
I also tried to melt the darkness like melting iron…
Fed my own blood to the truth
And kept the truth alive…
And spent my all
So the truth can breathe…
But you should be proud Faiz,
Today again I lost my being,
To keep the soul alive…
